Beavers Lose Game to Dubuque
Blackburn Men’s Basketball lost Sunday afternoon against the University of Dubuque. The Beavers lost to the Spartans with a final score of 84-73.
1st Half: The Beavers game came out neck and neck with the Spartans. It was a close game for the first ten minutes of the game until the Spartans broke loose, outscoring the Beaver 25-14 in the last ten minutes of the half, spearheaded by Spartans guard Jaylin McCants. This put the Beavers down 48-35 to end the half.
2nd Half: The Beavers came out hot to start the second half cutting the deficit down six with a layup from Blackburn’s own Izayah Talmadge. The Spartans would end up pulling away going on a 10-2 run that would eventually seal the game. Even though the Beavers outscored the Spartans 38-36 in the second half, it still was not enough to spark the comeback.
Chanz Aldridge was Blackburn’s leading scorer for the game with 29 points. He also had three assists with two rebounds. Eliot Harrison II was the second leading scorer with twelve points. Troy Cole Jr. led the team with eleven total rebounds, followed by Izayah Talmadge with six.
The Beavers fall to 3-3 on the year, they will look to bounce back against Eastern Illinois on Saturday, December 3rd. Tip-off for the game is at 6:00 p.m. at Eastern Illinois University.
