Men's tennis splits Saturday matches
The men's tennis team split two matches on Saturday in Michigan. Greenville lost the opening match 6-3 to Spring Arbor and rebounded with an 8-1 win against Albion.
The Panthers slipped behind 3-0 against Spring Arbor after the doubles flights. The Panther duo of Andres Sanchez and Rafael Rodriguez lost their No. 1 doubles match 8-7.
No. 1 Sanchez, No. 2 Rodriguez, and No. 3 Jordi Matuhen won their singles matches in straight sets against the Cougars.
In the match against Albion, Sanchez and Rodriguez dominated 8-2 in No. 1 doubles, and the No. 2 team of Clark Kent and Luke Motsinger won 8-7.
The Panthers swept all six singles matches against Albion.
No. 1 Sanchez won 6-4, 6-0, and No. 2 Rodriguez finished with a dominating 6-1, 6-0 victory.
No. 3 Kent also took his match 6-1, 6-0, and No. 4 Motsinger was pushed to a third set tiebreaker before winning 4-6, 7-5, 10-3.
No. 5 Thibaut Tignee won 7-5, 6-1, and No. 6 Santiago Jaimes captured a 6-2, 6-1 triumph.
The Panthers (6-4) will play a pair of matches on March 4 when they travel to Rose-Hulman and come back home to face Franklin.
