City of Carlinville City Council met Feb. 6

City of Carlinville City Council met Feb. 6.

Here are the minutes provided by the council:

PRESENT: Alderman Downey, Alderman Harber, Alderman Koller, Alderman LeVora, Alderman Link, Alderman Ober, Alderman Wagstaff, Mayor Sarah Oswald, City Clerk Carla Brockmeier, Attorney Don Craven, Police Chief Haley, Lieutenant Derek Graham, City Treasurer Jody Reichmann, Woodard and Curran Representative Dan Held Absent: Alderman McClain

Approval of Previous Minutes - Motion was made by Alderman Ober to approve minutes, seconded by Link, motion passed unanimously.

Approval of Bills - Motion made to approve bills by Alderman Harber, seconded by Koller, motion passed unanimously.

Correspondence

Square Car Show – Motion was made to approve closure of the first block of South Broad and the first block of East Main for a car show on Saturday July 29th by Alderman Ober, seconded by Wagstaff, motion passed unanimously. Also, twenty tall traffic cones were requested for use before 9 a.m. on the 29th.

Public Comment

Alderman Harber informed the council that he and Alderman Link have been working with the Carlinville Park Board to create an Intergovernmental Agreement. He is also working with Attorney Craven on an ordinance for contractors coming into the City of Carlinville to follow.

Alderman Harber also informed the council that the Bee City Committee is working on reinstatement from the state and Mary Tinder is working on a tourism grant for the Sears Home Neighborhood.

Old Business

2023 Calendar for City Council Meetings/City Hall Holidays – Attorney Craven discussed possibility of only one city council meeting a month. The calendar for city council meetings needed to be passed at the beginning of the new year. A motion was made by Alderman Harber to leave the calendar as is at two meetings a month, with one meeting falling on a Tuesday, due to Labor Day.

2023-2024 Budget – Alderman Harber remined the chairmen of all committees to begin to work on budgets for the passing of the city budget as a whole at the last meeting in April.

New Business

Spring Cleanup – FYI / Spring Cleanup dates April 21st (7 a.m. – 2:30 p.m.) and April 22nd (8 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.) Street Dept. Garage 434 North Plum

Motion to adjourn was made by Alderman Downey at 6:18 p.m., seconded by Koller motion passed unanimously.
