City of Centralia Veteran Affairs Committee met Feb. 9.

IV. PUBLIC COMMENT - None 

V. MINUTES – November 10th, 2022

A motion was made to approve the November 10th, 2022, minutes by Sensel with a second by Moran. All members present voted in favor of approving the minutes with no one opposing.

VI. TREASURY REPORT

A motion was made to accept the Treasurer’s report by Burris with a second by Moran. All members present voted in favor with no one opposing.

VII. ONGOING BUSINESS

1. VA Informational Day

Discussion included that a meeting needs to be scheduled with Department of Veterans Affairs on W. Broadway regarding an informational day for Veterans at the Legion. There was a discussion of Burris and Moran stopping by the building on Tuesday, Feb. 14, 2023, in efforts to schedule.

2. Fairview Park - Patriot Updates

Smith stated that he would like to speak to Terry Harris further about the placement of the poles. There was discussion of the price and types of flag poles needed and that an order will need placed soon. It was thought that about 100 flags poles will be needed.

3. Choose dates for Beggars Corner Solicitation

The dates of June 3rd, 2023, and June 17th, 2023, were decided for solicitation at Beggars Corner. Stevens will check with setting up a donation table at Buchheit, and Burris will be at the Post Office.

VIII. NEW BUSINESS

IX. OPEN DISCUSSION –

There was discussion of advertising for donations for flags, as well as a $25 donation amount to have a name sewn on a flag. That $25 donation was decided to go to the DAR for their contribution of sewing the names on the flags. The 2023 flag schedule was also requested.

X. ADJOURNMENT – A motion was made to adjourn the meeting by Smith with a second by Burris. All members present voted in favor of adjournment and the meeting was adjourned at 4:28 p.m.
