South Central Reporter

There were nine offenders living in Montgomery County released on parole during the fourth quarter of 2021, according to Illinois Department of Corrections data obtained by South Central Reporter.

The data shows all of the released offenders in Montgomery County were men. Of the parolees, one is a veteran, and the median age is 33. The youngest parolee was a 20-year-old man sentenced for a property crime in 2021, and the oldest was a 63-year-old man sentenced for a property crime in 2018.

The offender incarcerated the longest was Matthew D. Swisher. He was convicted of a crime involving alcohol in 2017 when he was 38 years old. He is now 44.

Under state law, paroled offenders are still in legal custody of the IDOC, meaning they can be taken back to a correctional center at any time if the state has probable cause or a warrant.
