South Central Reporter

There were 33 offenders released on parole during 2021 that live in Montgomery County, according to Illinois Department of Corrections data obtained by South Central Reporter.

The data shows 30 men and three women were released in Montgomery County. Of the parolees, one was a veteran, and the median age was 37. The youngest parolee was a 20-year-old man convicted of a property crime in 2021, and the oldest was a 64-year-old man convicted of a sex crime in 2010.

The offender who was incarcerated the longest was Darren E. Boerckel. He was convicted of a sex crime in 2010 when he was 51 years old. He is now 64.

Under state law, paroled offenders are still in legal custody of the IDOC, meaning they can be taken back to a correctional center at any time if the state has probable cause or a warrant.
