Q3 2021 Recap: 2 parolees from Macoupin County convicted of financial crimes or fraud set for release

There were two offenders convicted of financial crimes or fraud living in Macoupin County released on parole during the third quarter of 2021, according to Illinois Department of Corrections data obtained by the South Central Reporter.

The data shows both of the released offenders among the parolees were men. The median age of the parolees sentenced for financial crimes or fraud was 40. The younger parolee was a 37-year-old man sentenced in 2020, and the oldest was a 42-year-old man sentenced in 2021.

The offender who had been incarcerated the longest was Derek J. Bultema. He was convicted in 2020 when he was 35 years old. He is now 37.

Under state law, paroled offenders are still in legal custody of the IDOC, meaning they can be taken back to a correctional center at any time if the state has probable cause or a warrant.
