The majority of students in Macoupin County district's were white in the 2021-22 school year, according to the Illinois State Board of Education.

Of the 7,442 students attending Macoupin County district schools, 94% were white. Multi-racial students were the second largest ethnicity, making up 2.9% of Macoupin County's districts students.

In the previous school year, white students were the most common group in Macoupin County districts, representing 94.1% of the student body.

Carlinville Community Unit School District 1 had the most even distribution of races among county districts, including 92.2% white students, 4.5% Multi-racial students, 1.7% Hispanic students, and 1% African American students.
