State Rep. Blaine Wilhour (R-Beecher City) is inviting constituents to participate in a live Tele-Town Hall scheduled for Tuesday, Nov. 28, from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Wilhour is encouraging residents to join the event, which aims to provide a comprehensive update on the ongoing Veto Session.
“Please join us on Nov. 28th for a Veto Session Update and an opportunity to ask questions about state government and public policy issues,” Wilhour said on Facebook.
The event aims to provide an informative update on the General Assembly’s Veto Session and offers an opportunity for residents to engage directly with their representative.
Wilhour encourages active participation, urging residents to stay informed and voice their concerns on critical legislative matters.
The event is accessible by phone. Constituents who do not receive a call can still participate by dialing 217-727-6958 during the specified time, according to the announcement.
In the final legislative action of 2023, the Illinois General Assembly concluded its second week of veto session from Nov. 7 to 9, after a one-week break following the initial session from Oct. 24 to 26.
The largest failure of the Veto Session was the failure to extend the Invest in Kids Scholarship Tax Credit Program that served 9,600 needy schoolchildren attending private schools.
The General Assembly session is slated to commence its next regular session on Jan. 16.
Wilhour is a member of the Illinois Freedom Caucus along with State Representatives Adam Niemerg (R-Dieterich), Chris Miller (R-Oakland), Brad Halbrook (R-Shelbyville), Jed Davis (R-Newark), David Friess (R-Red Bud), and Dan Caulkins (R-Decatur), according to the organization’s website.
