Senator Plummer criticized the Governor's decision, stating, "Governor Pritzker is giving away far more than $1 billion on the illegal immigrants he invited to Illinois, while proposing a massive $1 billion tax increase on Illinois working families and underfunding programs for vulnerable children and the developmentally disabled." Plummer further emphasized that the people of Illinois are aware of the Governor's budget strategies and are not easily swayed by promises of savings.

Governor Pritzker's plan includes cutting the standard deduction and targeting both small and large job creators with tax increases. This move is expected to impact Illinoisans by either reducing their earnings, increasing the cost of goods and services, or both.

The Governor's budget proposal aims to set a new state record as the largest in history, with an additional $2 billion in spending totaling nearly $53 billion. If the plan is approved, state spending will have increased by 30% during Pritzker's six years in office.
