With the general election approaching, Illinois residents are encouraged to familiarize themselves with the voting process and registration requirements. Voting provides an opportunity for citizens to participate in government decisions.

In Illinois, voter eligibility criteria include being a U.S. citizen, residing in the election precinct for at least 30 days prior to Election Day, and being at least 18 years old by the date of the general election. Individuals serving sentences in penal institutions are not permitted to vote, and voters may only claim the right to vote in one location.

To check registration status or register to vote, individuals can visit the Illinois Online Voter Registration Application Website.
