FOIA Request to City of Assumption Regarding Unpaid Parking Violations on October 28, 2024.
As part of our ongoing commitment to providing comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, we at South Central Reporter have sent a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request to the City of Assumption in Illinois.
The request was made for a list of all parking violations currently unpaid within the city's jurisdiction. The information sought includes the name of the offender, their address, the amount due, violation date, and total due.
Access to public records is crucial for us to fulfill our professional responsibilities as journalists. This includes holding public institutions accountable and providing transparency to the public. Given our role in disseminating information, we believe we are eligible for a fee waiver as media professionals.
