A Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request was sent to the Greenville City Council in Illinois regarding detailed information about its council members on October 15, 2024.
As part of our ongoing efforts at South Central Reporter to provide comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, we requested specific records under the Illinois Freedom of Information Act, 5 ILCS 140. The request specifically sought a list of all council members with details including their names, titles, years appointed, term lengths (2 or 4 years), and term expiry dates.
At South Central Reporter, we believe in the importance of transparency and accountability in public institutions. Access to such public records is crucial for us to fulfill our professional responsibilities which include disseminating vital information to the public. As a media organization involved in gathering and reporting news, we also indicated our eligibility for a fee waiver as per the provisions for media professionals.
We await a response from the Greenville City Council as we continue our work towards providing comprehensive coverage of local government affairs.
