FOIA Request to City of Coffeen Regarding Unpaid Parking Violations on October 28, 2024. The South Central Reporter, a media organization dedicated to comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, has sent a request under the Illinois Freedom of Information Act (5 ILCS 140) for a list of all unpaid parking violations in the city.
The requested information includes the name of the offender, their address, the amount due, violation date, and total due. This information is sought in an electronic format for ease of analysis and reporting.
As members of the media committed to holding public institutions accountable and providing transparency to the public, we at South Central Reporter believe access to such public records is essential in fulfilling our professional responsibilities.
Given our role in disseminating information to the public, we have also requested a fee waiver as media professionals. We await a response from the City of Coffeen regarding this matter.
