FOIA Request to City Of Carlyle Regarding Unpaid Parking Violations on October 28, 2024.

In our continuous effort to provide comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, we at South Central Reporter have sent a request for records under the Illinois Freedom of Information Act (5 ILCS 140) to the City of Carlyle. The request was made for a list of all parking violations currently unpaid in the city.

The specifics of the requested data include the name of the offender, their address, the amount due, violation date, and total due. We believe that access to such public records is essential for us to fulfill our professional responsibilities. These responsibilities include holding public institutions accountable and providing transparency to the public.

As a media organization involved in gathering and reporting news to the public, we consider ourselves eligible for a fee waiver as media professionals. This belief stems from our role in disseminating information which contributes significantly towards fostering an informed citizenry.
