FOIA Request to Nokomis City Council Regarding Council Members' Information on October 15, 2024.
In our ongoing commitment to providing comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, we at South Central Reporter have sent a request under the Illinois Freedom of Information Act (5 ILCS 140) to the Nokomis City Council. The request was made in an effort to obtain a list of all council members along with specific details about each member.
The requested information includes the name and title of each council member, the year they were appointed, their term length (2 or 4 years), and the date their term expires. This information is crucial for us to fulfill our professional responsibilities which include holding public institutions accountable and providing transparency to the public.
As a media organization, we believe that access to public records is essential for accurate reporting. We have therefore requested that any associated fees be waived due to our role in disseminating this information to the public.
We look forward to receiving this information from the Nokomis City Council as it will greatly assist us in our mission of providing comprehensive news coverage on local government affairs.
