FOIA Request to Breese City Council Regarding Detailed Information of All Council Members on October 15, 2024.
As part of our ongoing commitment to providing comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, we at South Central Reporter have submitted a request for records under the Illinois Freedom of Information Act, 5 ILCS 140.
The request, sent to the Breese City Council in Illinois, seeks detailed information about all council members. Specifically, we have asked for a list of all council members with their names, titles, years of appointment, term lengths (2 or 4 years), and term expiry dates.
As a media organization dedicated to holding public institutions accountable and providing transparency to the public, access to such public records is essential for us. It allows us to fulfill our professional responsibilities effectively. We believe that as media professionals involved in gathering and reporting news to the public, we are eligible for a fee waiver.
