FOIA Request to City of Nokomis Regarding Unpaid Parking Violations on October 28, 2024.
In our ongoing efforts to provide comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, we at South Central Reporter have sent a request for records under the Illinois Freedom of Information Act, 5 ILCS 140. The request was made in electronic format and was directed towards the City of Nokomis.
The specific records requested pertain to all parking violations currently unpaid within the city's jurisdiction. We have asked for detailed information including the name of the offender, their address, the amount due, violation date, and total due.
As a media organization committed to transparency and accountability in public institutions, access to these public records is essential for us to fulfill our professional responsibilities. Given our role in disseminating information to the public, we believe we are eligible for a fee waiver as a media professional.
