A Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request was submitted to the City of Centralia concerning unpaid parking violations on October 28, 2024. The request was made by South Central Reporter, a media organization dedicated to delivering comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs.
In the request, we sought a list of all parking violations currently unpaid within the city's jurisdiction. This includes details such as the name of the offender, their address, the amount due for each violation, the date when each violation occurred, and the total amount due.
As a media organization, our role is not just about gathering and reporting news to the public. We are also involved in holding public institutions accountable and providing transparency to our readers. Access to public records like these is essential for us to fulfill our professional responsibilities.
We believe that we are eligible for a fee waiver as a media professional given our role in disseminating information. We have reached out to City of Centralia officials for any questions or clarifications they may have regarding this request.
