FOIA Request to City of St. Elmo Regarding Unpaid Parking Violations on October 28, 2024.
In a continued effort to provide comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, we at South Central Reporter have submitted a request under the Illinois Freedom of Information Act (5 ILCS 140) to the City of St. Elmo.
The request specifically seeks a list of all currently unpaid parking violations within the city's jurisdiction. This includes details such as the name of the offender, their address, the amount due for each violation, the date when each violation occurred, and the total amount due.
As a media organization committed to holding public institutions accountable and providing transparency to the public, access to these public records is essential for us to fulfill our professional responsibilities. Given our role in disseminating information, we believe we are eligible for a fee waiver as media professionals.
