A Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request was sent to the Kinmundy City Council in Illinois on October 15, 2024. The request, issued by South Central Reporter, a media organization committed to comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, seeks detailed information about all council members.
Specifically, we at South Central Reporter are seeking a list of all council members with the following fields: Name, Title, Year Appointed, Term (2 or 4 years), and Term Expire Date. This information is being requested under the Illinois Freedom of Information Act, 5 ILCS 140.
As a media organization involved in gathering and reporting news to the public, access to public records is essential for us to fulfill our professional responsibilities. These include holding public institutions accountable and providing transparency to the public.
Given our role in disseminating information to the community, we believe we are eligible for a fee waiver as a media professional under the provisions of the FOIA. We eagerly await the Kinmundy City Council's response to this request as we continue our work in promoting transparency and accountability within local government.
