FOIA Request to Washington County Il Clerk & Elections Division Regarding Upcoming Election Candidates on February 5, 2025.
As part of our commitment to providing comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, we at South Central Reporter have submitted a request under the Illinois Freedom of Information Act, 5 ILCS 140. We are seeking detailed information about all candidates running in the upcoming election.
Our request includes candidates' first, middle, and last names; the office they are running for; jurisdiction of the office; party affiliation of the candidate; and all contact information for each candidate including their address, phone number, and email address.
We believe that access to public records is essential for us to fulfill our professional responsibilities which include holding public institutions accountable and providing transparency to the public. Given our role in disseminating information, we consider ourselves eligible for a fee waiver as media professionals.
