At a recent Lunch and Learn event, Caroline Boehne, a registered dietitian at Salem Township Hospital, presented on the topic "Balancing Your Plate on a Balanced Budget." The event attracted over fifty attendees who participated in discussions while enjoying coffee, a balanced meal, and a dessert of fruit and yogurt.

Caroline Boehne discussed the importance of incorporating all five food groups into daily diets, even when on a budget. She emphasized the vitamins and minerals provided by each group and highlighted affordable grocery store options. Attendees had the opportunity to ask questions about dietary concerns and received tips on recommended fiber intake and how to combine carbohydrates with protein for longer satiety.

For more information about eating healthy on a budget, Caroline suggested visiting MyPlate.gov.

Those interested in personalized dietary advice can schedule an appointment with Caroline Boehne by requesting a referral from their primary care provider and calling (618) 548-3194 ext. 8212.
