Over 60 individuals attended the March Lunch and Learn event, where they were served lunch, coffee, and dessert. The attendees had the opportunity to hear from Stella Johnson, a Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP), who spoke on the significance of sleep.

Stella Johnson addressed different types of sleep and their impact on overall health. She identified common elements that can disrupt sleep, such as habits, electronic devices, and caffeine intake. To improve sleep quality, she suggested regular exercise, meditation and mindfulness practices, aromatherapy, and listening to calming music or sound machines. Other recommendations included putting away electronics before bedtime, using sleep masks to block light, and utilizing weighted blankets for added comfort. Johnson also pointed out that certain health conditions like Sleep Apnea, Restless Leg Syndrome, and Anxiety could lead to poor sleep.

For those experiencing sleepless nights, Stella advised consulting with a primary care provider to discuss individual concerns and needs.

Appointments with Stella Johnson can be scheduled by calling 618-548-6644.
