Seth McMillan, Republican candidate for state senator in the 48th District, has scheduled a meet and greet for Tuesday, July 10 at the Sage House in Bunker Hill.
The event kicks off at 5:30 p.m., and pizza and refreshments will be served.
In November's general election, McMillan is pitted against Sen. Andy Manar (D-Bunker Hill), whom he recently blasted as a phony.
Sen. Andy Manar (D-Bunker Hill)
“Andy Manar is a fake,” he told the South Central Reporter. “When Manar ran for office in 2012, he said that he was pro-life and he also campaigned against a tax hike. He has flip-flopped on both of those issues and sided with Chicago Democrats to raise taxes, and he also voted 'yes' to expand abortion in Illinois.”
McMillan has further accused his opponent of being a liberal desperate enough to do anything to cover his tracks and voting record.
McMillan said the biggest difference between the two men is that he isn’t a politician, while Manar has made a career of it.
“Andy Manar is a career politician who has had an active role in state politics for the last 20 years,” he said. “Andy Manar had his fingers on the Illinois budget as chief of staff to Senate President John Cullerton prior to being elected to the Senate. We need leaders who are not going to continue the status quo in Springfield.”
