An endorsement from U.S. Rep. Rodney Davis (R-Illinois) is the latest move propelling Seth McMillan’s campaign for the 48th District state Senate seat.

“Seth McMillan is exactly who we need to get state government back on track,” Davis said in a press release. “Seth will fight against Chicago politicians who have spent years leading our state into bankruptcy. I trust that Seth will fight for pro-business, pro-taxpayer policies that will lead to greater economic growth in Central Illinois.”

McMillan, a self-described “outsider candidate,” is running against Sen. Andy Manar (D-Bunker Hill) in November's election.

McMillan's campaign focuses on three main issues: high income and property taxes, plus overspending by “career politicians,” the press release states. He noted that his campaign aligns with what Davis champions in the U.S. Congress.

“In Congress, Rodney Davis is a champion for taxpayers, farmers, and small business owners,” McMillan said. “He voted for historic tax cuts that will put money in the pockets of residents of the 48th District and a Farm Bill that protects our farmers from falling commodity prices. He’s exactly the kind of model legislator we need in Springfield.”

The 48th District includes Christian, Macon, Macoupin, Madison, Montgomery and Sangamon counties.
