Rep. Blaine Wilhour believes he and other Republicans can create a better Illinois.

State Rep. Blaine Wilhour (R-Beecher City) has concerns over what he sees as Illinois’ fall from grace.

“Remember when Illinois was the land of opportunity,” Wilhour said in March 17 video posted to YouTube. “We were an economic giant, and it makes sense. But one party, one system has become too powerful, too unaccountable, too corrupt.”

Wilhour said the results have been painful to watch.

“Taxpayers have been crushed, opportunity is being stifled, and citizens are fleeing,” he said.” The interests of the special interests have been put ahead of your interests too many times.”

Wilhour said he and House Republicans are ready to be the change they now feel is needed in Springfield.

“It’s time to end the culture of corruption in Springfield,” he said. “Let’s restore credibility to our government. We’re committed, if given power, to enacting the strongest anti-corruption safeguards in the country to ensure that corrupt politicians never accumulate this kind of power over you again.”
