Q4 2021 Parolees Recap: Who was paroled in Marion County?

There were 17 offenders living in Marion County released on parole during the fourth quarter of 2021, according to Illinois Department of Corrections data obtained by South Central Reporter.

The data shows 15 men and two women were released in Marion County. The median age of the parolees was 34. The youngest parolee was a 30-year-old man sentenced for a property crime in 2021, and the oldest was a 62-year-old man sentenced for a sex crime in 2018.

The offender incarcerated the longest was Gary L. Smith. He was convicted of homicide in 1993 when he was 32 years old. He is now 61.

Under state law, paroled offenders are still in legal custody of the IDOC, meaning they can be taken back to a correctional center at any time if the state has probable cause or a warrant.

The table below gives a breakdown of how many offenders were paroled in the fourth quarter of 2021 in each Marion County.
