City of Carlinville City Council met July 1.
Here are the minutes provided by the council:
PRESENT: Alderman Downey, Alderman Harber (ran meeting, in mayor’s absence), Alderman Ober, Alderman Wagstaff, Alderman LeVora, Alderman Demuzio, Alderman Link, Alderman Reese, City Clerk Carla Brockmeier, Budget Officer Linda Boente, Bobbi Bates Zoning, Police Officer Jake Hannig, Attorneys Joe and Don Craven Absent: Mayor Oswald, Treasurer Jody Reichmann, Police Chief Derek Graham
Approval of Previous Minutes - Motion was made by Alderman Ober to approve minutes, seconded by Demuzio, motion passed unanimously.
Approval of Bills - Motion was made to approve bills by Alderman Downey, seconded by LeVora, motion passed unanimously.
Correspondence
Summer Repertory Theater Correspondence- Motion was made by Alderman Link to allow Summer Repertory Theater to place sign at the train station from July 8th thru July 29th, with request being made every year, seconded by Wagstaff, motion passed unanimously.
Public Comment
Clerk announced that petition filing will be earlier this year per County Clerk Pete Duncan. Petitions will be distributed towards the end of the month.
Alderman Link gave a breakdown for the lead line replacement and the Colt Rd project and what will be funded by the state.
Old Business
Void Ordinance #1854- Ordinance #1854 needed to be voided, the City Clerk can not be appointed in the city, this ordinance stated the clerk be appointed. A motion was made to void Ordinance #1854, by Alderman Link, seconded by Demuzio, motion passed unanimously.
Ordinance for Appointment of City Treasurer – Motion to pass ordinance was made by Alderman Downey, seconded by LeVora, motion passed unanimously.
New Business
Ordinance to Sell 213 N. East Street – An ordinance to sell 213 N. East (Senior Citizens Building) was passed after a motion was made by Alderman Downey, seconded by Demuzio, motion passed unanimously.
Codify and Revise Code Book – The code book needs to be recodified due to new ordinances passed in the last five years. A motion was made to spend approximately $2,000.00 to recodify the current city code book by Alderman Downey, seconded by LeVora, motion passed unanimously.
Motion to adjourn was made by Alderman Downey at 6:10 p.m., seconded by LeVora motion passed unanimously.
