FOIA Request to Marion County Clerk Regarding 2025 Consolidated Elections Candidates on January 14, 2025.
As part of our ongoing commitment to provide comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, we at South Central Reporter have submitted a request under the Illinois Freedom of Information Act, 5 ILCS 140.
Our request is for an electronic record containing a list of candidates running for the upcoming 2025 Consolidated Elections. We are specifically interested in the following fields: Candidate Name, Candidate filled date, and The office that they are running for.
As a media organization, access to public records is essential for us to fulfill our professional responsibilities. These include holding public institutions accountable and providing transparency to the public. Given our role in disseminating information, we believe we are eligible for a fee waiver as media professionals.
