A Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request was sent to the Clinton County Clerk's office on January 14, 2025. The request, made by South Central Reporter, a media organization committed to providing comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, sought details about the candidates running for the 2025 Consolidated Elections.
Specifically, we asked for a list of candidates that includes their names, the dates they filed their candidacy, and the offices they are running for. This information is crucial in our mission to provide transparent and accountable reporting on public institutions and processes.
As members of the media, we believe in the importance of public access to such records. It enables us to fulfill our professional responsibilities effectively. Given our role in disseminating information to the public, we also requested a fee waiver as media professionals.
We are currently awaiting a response from the Clinton County Clerk's office regarding this request.
