Rep. Avery Bourne (R-Litchfield) on Jan. 19 took to Twitter to promote Team Irvin Bourne, the slate of candidates she says will address high taxes, crime and "end corruption" in Illinois.
"Proud to be running with this historic team," Bourne said in the tweet. "Together, we will work together to reduce crime, fight corruption, and return fiscal responsibility for the people of this great state."
The slate includes Richard Irvin for governor, Bourne for lieutenant governor, Steve Kim for attorney general, John Milhiser for secretary of state, Shannon Teresi for comptroller and Rep. Tom Demmer (R-Dixon) for treasurer.
Irvin and Bourne have been endorsed by former Sangamon County Sheriff Neil Williamson, Rep. Dan Ugaste (R-St. Charles), Rep. Mark Batinick (R-Plainfield) and more, according to the Irvine Bourne for Illinois website.
Demmer announced his run for state treasurer earlier this month and called the state's government "broken" in an ad campaign, according to DeKalb Times.
"It's a symptom of the larger issues in Springfield: greed, corruption, and the belief among politicians that it's more important to reward their special-interest allies than to look out for Illinois families," Demmer said in the ad.
According to Irvin Bourne for Illinois, Avery was the youngest member to be sworn into the state's legislature when taking office in 2015.
Bourne has long opposed tax hikes, defunding the police and has aimed to clean up corruption, according to her website.
"Avery’s roots in Illinois run deep," the Irvine Bourne for Illinois website states. "She lives in the same farmhouse her family settled in nearly 150 years ago. Growing up in a farming family, she learned the value of hard work and the importance of leaving a place better than she found it."
