The Salem Township Hospital will host a Diabetes Support & Nutrition Education Group meeting on Thursday, October 30, from 2:00 pm to 3:00 pm. The session will take place in the Linda Mobley Community Room at the hospital’s address, 1201 Ricker Drive, Salem, Illinois.

Caroline Boehne, MS, RDN, LDN, a registered dietitian and nutritionist, will lead the event. The topic for this meeting is “Balance in the ‘-BER’ Months: Eating Well during the Colder Season.” The discussion will cover why proper nutrition is important as the weather changes, meal and comfort food ideas that do not cause blood sugar spikes, and how to maintain balance with holiday eating and baking.

The event is free and open to all ages. Attendees will be offered light snacks that are suitable for people with diabetes. Organizers ask participants to RSVP by calling (618) 740-1688 or emailing ckboehne@sthcares.org to ensure there are enough snacks and seating available.
